Ihram on the flight

If you fly to Jeddah and go straight to Makkah for Umrah, you cross the miqat in the air before landing. Put on ihram before boarding, or on board before the crew's miqat announcement, and make your intention then. If you fly to Madinah first, you put on ihram later, in Madinah, before heading to Makkah.

Jeddah or Madinah?

Many pilgrims fly into Madinah, spend a few days there, take the train to Makkah and fly home from Jeddah. That avoids wearing ihram on the plane and is sometimes cheaper. See flights to Madinah.
